Behind the lens
Rachel Lee Young began photographing the birds of Trinidad and Tobago long before those images found their way onto textiles, homeware and art. Since founding Land of the Hummingbird in 2018, her photography has become the heart of a growing collection inspired by the islands’ extraordinary wildlife.
Her work has appeared in local and international publications, been exhibited across Trinidad and Tobago, and received recognition from the Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago.
Published in local and international magazines. Exhibited in galleries across Trinidad and Tobago. Awarded for photography and surface design by the Art Society of T&T.
Produced in small batches using eco-friendly inks and quality materials, in collaboration with small local businesses – many of them women-led.
Nothing is mass-produced. Pieces are made in limited quantities, with selected designs produced to order.
We use eco-friendly inks on high-quality fabrics chosen to be used, washed and enjoyed.
We collaborate with small Trinidad and Tobago businesses, many of them women-led, to bring each collection to life.
