Land of the Hummingbird is a Trinidad and Tobago homeware and gift brand built on original nature photography by Rachel Lee Young. Every design on every product begins as a photograph she took here.
Rachel Lee Young. Born in the UK, living in Trinidad since 1999, photographing the birds of these islands for more than twenty years.
All our photography and designs are Rachel’s original work.
Not long after moving to Trinidad, Rachel started making greeting cards featuring tropical flowers that were so exotic to her having grown up in a cooler climate. As she became more fascinated with hummingbirds and her photography developed, she started adding hummingbirds to her greeting card collection and quickly came to understand how these joyful, flying jewels are universally loved.
In 2018, a friend wanting to buy a hummingbird gift for Rachel, was surprised that it was so difficult to find anything with a hummingbird image on it, and the only things that did have hummingbirds featured birds that were not found in Trinidad and Tobago. Seeing a business opportunity, Rachel transformed some of her hummingbird photographs into a surface pattern design, had it printed on fabric and made tea towels to see what would happen. They quickly flew away into people’s homes!
Trinidad and Tobago is known as the Land of the Hummingbird due to it’s historical role in shipping hummingbirds to Europe for the millinery trade more than a hundred years ago, so it was a natural choice to name Rachel’s new brand The Land of the Hummingbird.
All the species that have been recorded in Trinidad and Tobago are included in the deck.
They make unusual gifts for bird lovers, travellers and anyone who misses home.
The playing cards are printed in small batches and may be reprinted if demand requires it. They are not limited edition.
The cards are designed (using Rachel’s photographs) and printed in Trinidad and Tobago, on high-quality, long lasting vinyl material, then UV coated.
Tea towels, aprons, napkins, cushion covers, coasters, mugs in two formats, tote bags, wristlets and small pouches, enamel pins, keychains, earrings, scarves, luggage tags, greeting cards, magnets, trinket dishes, posters, other seasonal specials and fine art prints.
Rachel designs everything in Trinidad and Tobago using her locally taken photographs.
Linens are printed in the USA and cut and sewn here.
Pins and keychains are made in the USA or China.
Everything else is printed or made in Trinidad and Tobago.
Photo prints and canvas prints are both available with a variety of finishes. Please contact us for sizes and pricing.
We ship worldwide to most countries from Trinidad.
Shipping to European countries may be restricted due to new import rules and fees.
Import duties and taxes on international orders are the responsibility of the buyer.
Local delivery in Trinidad and Tobago of in-stock items takes 3-7 days via door-door courier. Items that are made to order can take up to 6 weeks depending on what we are making for you.
International shipping on in-stock orders will take 1-2 weeks. Up to 8 weeks may be needed to ship custom made items to international addresses.
We will always discuss shipping times (and costs) with you if you are ordering a custom made item.

Returns for change of mind are not accepted.
We accept returns for faulty, damaged or incorrect goods. Please contact us within 7 days of receipt of your order to make arrangements.
